Natalie Varkey
Natalie is passionate about facilitating educational opportunities that foster joy and inspire curiosity. She has served in the education space for over five years as both an educator and program supervisor for teacher candidates seeking licensure. Her career began as a Social Justice teacher at a high school in a rural town in North Carolina. There she co-led a Young Activist Group made up of teenagers eager to use advocacy to transform their community. She then moved to Durham, North Carolina, and began working in a middle school where she taught 8th grade English Language Arts and U.S. History. Her expertise lies in developing curricula that integrate technology and allowing students of all learning levels to display their learning and mastery of the content.
Natalie holds a B.S.Ed. in Social Studies Education (6-12) and a B.A. in History from the University of Georgia. In 2022 she earned an M.Ed. in Education Policy and Analysis from Harvard University. Her research as a graduate student focused on proposing policy strategies to eliminate the digital divide experienced by marginalized communities which led to a policy brief on tech equity written for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Outside work, Natalie enjoys watching every television show, rollerblading around her neighborhood, or just trying her absolute best at a hobby she is convinced will make describing her free time effortless.
