Hillside Public Schools: First BootUp District in New Jersey

I am excited to highlight BootUp's partnership with Hillside Public Schools, the very first district in New Jersey to implement BootUp’s CS program. This collaboration marks a significant milestone and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to showcase the impactful work happening in this district.
During my recent visit to Hillside, I had the privilege of observing several classrooms, and the experience was nothing short of inspiring. As someone who has visited countless classrooms across the country, this visit truly stood out. I was moved by the excitement and engagement of the students as they dove into the BootUp lessons, showcasing a genuine interest in learning and exploring computational thinking skills.
A special acknowledgement goes to Becky Hansen, whose passion for BootUp’s mission was on full display. Watching Becky in action, I was struck by her ability to seamlessly facilitate lessons that empowered both teachers and students. Her dedication to supporting teachers in building their capacity to teach coding was heartwarming and a testament to the positive impact BootUp strives to make.
I also want to take this moment to recognize the teachers and district leadership at Hillside Public Schools. Their commitment to the success of this program has been crucial in making this partnership thrive. It’s clear that their leadership, collaboration, and enthusiasm have played a significant role in the success of the students.

This visit reaffirmed our mission and left me feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such an engaged and supportive district.
