
Kris Beck
Kris Beck is the Director of the Computer Science Chicago Public Schools. Kris’ team supports computer science education, professional learning, enrichment and pathways from prekindergarten through 12th grade for 643 schools across the city. The team supports all after school robotics, esports and Minecraft programming, providing CS/STEM opportunities for schools across the district.
Kris started her Computer Science Journey working as a technology specialist in a large commercial printing company. She grew her programming skills on the job. In 2010 she joined Chicago Public Schools as a STEM teacher – teaching middle school students, Algebra, Science and Computer Science. Kris has taught Computer Science from K - College level courses.
As the director of the Computer Science team at CPS she loves the impact that her team has on creating computer science opportunities for all students – Computer Science for All. Kris is excited to learn how other educators and leaders are working with new and developing technology to create joyful, creative and challenging learning experiences for all students.
